Central American News
Dear Readers,
Central American News has delivered weekly curated news of the region, along with good reads, art and cultural recommendations, for nearly four years. We do this out of love of Central America, Central Americans, and to keep information easily accessible for people of all walks of life.
We believe in the power of Central American news curated and told by Central Americans.
Our audience is incredibly diverse and we are grateful for that. We thank each and every subscriber for your loyalty and trust in Central American News, which has expanded in terms of volunteer staff and scope over the years. We also thank and welcome the 30+ new subscribers who just joined us! ;) and of course, we extend our gratitude to our wonderful patrons who have encouraged us financially to keep going and pay for the media services we have used as well as help staff members in precarious situations.
After four years, the time has come for us to take a break and reassess our staffing and larger goals for Central American News. We take this pause only to be able to come back stronger.
During this break, we will initially be looking for:
an editor-in-chief
editors
news curators (particularly for Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala)
and we're open to more kinds of contributions (like artists, business developers, translators, tech developers, mentors...)
We have organized our work in such a way that volunteers do not exceed 2 hours of work per week.
Please share this opportunity in your contacts. Today, our staff is comprised of journalists, students, educators, scholars, health practitioners and social media managers. All this to say that you don't need to be a journalist or journalism student to apply, especially for the curator positions.
We are also particularly open to collaborating with journalism schools in Central America and Central American university clubs abroad for this work going forward.
Just reach out to us for more details, ideas, or to apply.
We hope to see you again soon, all fresh and renewed.
Thank you. Gracias.
Salú,
